The World Poker Tour will venture into the sweepstakes industry with the launch of its ClubWPT Gold platform. According to a bookie pay per head blog, its launch will be in 2025 and will have a $5 million freeroll.
The world-renowned social poker site has unveiled an exciting new development, beginning in December 2024 at the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship. In particular, WPT has announced that it will focus on the sweepstakes aspect of online poker with the release of the highly-anticipated ClubWPT Gold platform, which will be accessible for play in early 2025.
But before that, to celebrate the debut of their newest sweepstakes poker product, the new site will be the official title sponsor of a $5,000,000 freeroll. It will be the first of its type and establish a record.
ClubWPT Gold with a $5 Million Invitational Freeroll
Word on the street is that WPT’s new online poker product operates on a sweepstakes-based platform, similar to ClubWPT, which legally serves most of the US. This will allow them to “hit the refresh button” and join the social gaming trend of offering a product that looks and feels like real-money play while complying with sweepstakes laws.
As a celebratory gesture, WPT—which in 2008 debuted ClubWPT, a social poker site with a prize component—has chosen to make its promotional presence felt with a legendary freeroll. With a first-place prize of $1,000,000 up for grabs, the largest live freeroll event in the world is drawing in about 2,000 players to Sin City.
With a second-chance drawing offering 100 free entries into the $10,400 WPT World Championship tournament, around 25% of the field will have a chance to win a portion of the $5 million revealed. The second plan calls for three inaugural flights taking off on December 14.
At 297 players remaining, the freeroll will also transform into a Mystery Bounty with a total prize pool of $720,000, with two $100,000 bounties up for grabs. At the very least, each of the nine players who make it to the final table will take home $20,000, and they’ll each have their mystery bounty pool with a $200,000 grand prize and a single $0 envelope.
How to Get Golden Passports
To enter the legendary freeroll, players from the United States and Canada who reside in regions where the new platform is accessible must first register and create a free account.
They may participate in ambassador—or influencer-specific draws and competitions in seconds and be eligible to win a Golden Passport by entering any ambassador promo code from Brad Owen or Ethan ‘Rampage’ Yau into the dedicated promo code area.
