The National Football League is the last American professional sports league to sign official sports betting partners. The NFL announced that DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars are official betting partners of the football league.
The three sportsbooks can use official league and promote their partnership with the NFL via the use of trademarks on sports betting platforms and marketing. The NFL didn’t disclose the terms of the deals.
Sports betting software reports said that partners usually pay $1 billion to the professional football league. Also, the maximum length of NFL partnerships is five years. The NFL can opt-out of the contract after the third and fourth years.
Official Sports Betting Partners of the NFL
The NFL chief revenue officer Renie Anderson said that the league paid attention to the popularity of sports betting in the United States. At present, many people want to learn how to be a bookie. Also, Anderson said that sports betting would increase fan engagement.
It was a massive turnaround from the NFL. Previously, the league fought against the legalization of sports betting in the US. Also, it asked Congress to create more guidelines regarding sports wagering in different states. However, all its efforts against sports gambling failed.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he was against sports betting because it could affect the integrity of the game. Its partners will collaborate in sharing data intelligence to monitor irregular wagering patterns. Also, they will share sports betting software tips to ensure the integrity of the sport.
Caesars will market its NFL partnership in its casinos. On the other hand, DraftKings will use its exclusive fantasy deal with the NFL. Lastly, the NFL will feature FanDuel on its pregame programs over at the NFL Network.
Other sportsbooks can sign official wagering data contracts with the NFL through a program monitored by Genius sports. However, the sportsbooks can’t market their relationship with the league.
